Red Light Therapy

What is Red Light Therapy:

Red light therapy is used to stimulate and speed up healing,

reduce pain and reduce inflammation in a natural and

painless way.

There are now thousands of scientific studies published on

red light therapy and its benefits, most of which are dedicated

to pain.

Other studied benefits include improvements in:

  • Sleep

  • energy and fatigue

  • gut health

  • brain health

  • immune system

  • eye health

  • hormone optimisation

  • nerve and tissue regeneration

The most promising evidence that is appearing from this research is that Red Light Therapy appears to treat the root cause of the issue as opposed to simply relieving symptoms.

How does it work:

Wavelengths of red and near infrared light are absorbed into mitochondria, which are tiny structures in each of our cells that generate the energy we need to perform essential functions. When we shine such a light on the body, there is a biological domino effect from the stimulation of the mitochondria that benefits every part of the organism. Cell signalling is optimised, the brain gets more blood flow, our cells get more energy, genes and stem cells get activated, the body’s natural healing response gets stimulated.

This then results in reduced pain, inflammation, and swelling; repair of tissues such as skin, nerves, muscles, ligaments, tendons; and a general sense of overall well-being.

Can it help me?

We use Red Light Therapy to help people with the following:

  • aches & pains (in back, neck, shoulder, hip, knee, fibromyalgia etc.)

  • nerve pain (pins & needles, numbness, peripheral neuropathy, carpal tunnel syndrome)

  • strains & sprains (achilles tendonitis, ligament sprains, muscular spasms)

  • inflammation & swelling

  • arthritis

  • joint pain

  • muscle recovery

  • physical performance enhancement

  • post-surgery healing

  • tendon healing

  • wound healing (post-injury, post-surgery, diabetic wound healing, bone healing in fractures)

… and many more.

What can I expect during treatment?

The red light will need to be placed directly on the skin either on the area of concern or on an area such as the abdomen to deliver a systemic treatment. We ask that you avoid applying cream/lotion to the area prior to treatment.

The treatment is painless. You will likely experience a relaxing feeling and a gentle warmth in the areas exposed to the light during the session.

Some people experience a tingling sensation and others a temporary tightness/stiffness in the skin. Both should disappear once you have finished with the session.

In our experience, we find that red light therapy works best in synergy with our other treatments (InterX, manual therapy), therefore, a combination approach is typically used during your session.

How many sessions will I need?

A course of treatment is typically recommended, and the length of this course will be discussed in your initial consultation depending on your individual circumstances.

Can I self-treat at home?

Yes!! You can also rent the device for a home treatment protocol or you can buy these easy-to-use devices to have at home to treat yourself and your family.
