My interest in chronic illness began long before it became my career.
I was diagnosed with juvenile idiopathic arthritis at eight years old. With the help of my grandmother, Margaret Hills, I recovered using the nutritional and lifestyle approach she became known for worldwide.
That experience shaped the question that has fascinated me ever since: what enables the body to recover?
After almost 20 years in clinical practice, that question has become more specific. Why do some people recover, while others remain unwell despite doing everything right?
I trained in Human Physiology, Nutrition and Functional Medicine and spent many years looking deeply into the biochemical drivers of complex illness. But I also encountered people for whom functional medicine, extensive testing, dietary change and carefully chosen interventions simply weren't enough.
Those people changed the way I practise. Today, much of my work focuses on understanding what may be preventing the body from responding.
I have a particular interest in metabolism and blood-sugar regulation, and the profound influence our metabolic state can have on energy production, inflammation, brain function and wider health. I am fascinated by mitochondrial and cellular function and by how nutrition, light, circadian rhythms and our wider environment influence our biology.
But over the years I cam to realise that biology is only part of the picture.
Training in PSYCH-K® fundamentally expanded the way I think about chronic illness. Our subconscious beliefs and learned responses can influence how we perceive and respond to the world around us.
Working with these patterns has become central to my practice, particularly when someone appears to understand what they need to do but remains unable to move forward.
My work therefore brings together functional medicine, metabolic health, subconscious belief work and the biology of our relationship with our environment. If you have spent years trying to piece together your own health, I don't want to start again from the beginning or give you another protocol.
I want to understand why you are still stuck.
